Late Night Salsa-ing: Strawberry Nectarine Salsa

Fabulous things happen in the wee hours of the night for me. Cravings and dancing in particular. I wanted strawberries (when do I not?) and remembered how yummy a nectarine I had for breakfast was. So I paired them together, enjoyed a nice snack. I decided to share the blend with others, and thought a nice salsa would attract more eaters. I made a fresh batch of this Strawberry Nectarine Salsa; it did the trick! It is sweet, fruity, and a nice welcome to spring. We ate the entire bowl in one sitting...and danced while cleaning up!

It's great served with seafood or as a dip with blue corn chips. (We had both.) Recipe is below!

(Makes about 2 cups of salsa)


  • 8-10 strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 2 nectarines seeded and diced
  • ½ red onion, diced
  • 1 clove minced garlic 
  • 2 diced tomatoes
  • ½ jalapeno pepper, diced 
  • 2 green onions, sliced thin
  • ½ cup chopped cilantro
  • dash of sugar
  • dash of salt
  • Juice from 1 lime


  1. Place all diced fruits, vegetables, sugar, and salt in a medium size bowl.

  2. Add lime juice. Toss everything together well.

  3. Place in a serving container. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  4. Enjoy within 1-2 days for maximum freshness.
